Your starter categories
A category is what the money was for: Groceries, Travel, Main Income. Every transaction has one, so Quidough can show you where your money actually went.
You don’t start from scratch
When you create a household, Quidough sets up a set of everyday categories for you, so your first transaction has somewhere to go. Groceries, Transport, Bills & Utilities, Main Income, and the rest of the ones most households need.
They’re a starting point, not a fixed list.
Make them yours
Rename any of them, change the color or the icon, delete the ones you’ll never use, and add your own. You can also give a category a short description, which shows up as a helper line when you’re choosing one. It’s useful when two categories sit close together and you’d otherwise hesitate.
Categories are listed alphabetically, so they stay where you expect them. There’s more on how they work in categories and payees.
Spending or income
Each category is either a spending one or an income one, and that’s settled when it’s created. You can rename it and recolor it later, but you can’t flip it from one to the other. That’s what keeps your insights cleanly split between what you earn and what you spend.
