Adding your first account
An account is a place your money sits: a current account, a savings pot, a credit card, the notes in your wallet.
The six kinds
Current, savings, credit, cash, investment, and other. Each kind gets its own icon and color so you can tell them apart at a glance. Pick the one that fits. Nothing else in Quidough changes because of the kind you choose, except for credit cards, which work a little differently. There’s more on all six in account types.
What Quidough asks for
A name, and an opening balance. The opening balance is what’s in the account right now, not what it held when you opened it years ago. Quidough counts everything you record from there.
For a credit card you also set the credit limit. Quidough uses it to show your available funds: for an ordinary account that’s just the balance, and for a credit card it’s the balance plus the limit, which is the room you have left to spend.
Its currency
An account holds money in one currency, and you choose it when you create the account. You can change it freely until you record something in the account. After that it locks, for a good reason. See why an account’s currency locks.
Adding more later
You only need one to start. Add the rest whenever you like, and group them into folders if the list gets long.
