Reading your insights
Insights shows you a month at a glance. There are two views: Cash flow and Savings.
Cash flow
Two bars, one for income and one for spending, with the net left over beneath.
Below them is a breakdown by category. It opens on your spending. Tap the income bar to switch across, and the bar you aren’t reading turns gray.
Each category gets a row showing how much went there, how many transactions made it up, and whether that’s more or less than last month.
Savings
How your savings have moved, month by month.
The line is what you had. The bars are what you put in or took out: green for a month you added to, red for one you drew down.
Why the line and the bars can disagree
The bars only count money you moved.
If some of your savings sit in another currency, what they’re worth in yours shifts as exchange rates move. That shift isn’t a deposit or a withdrawal, so no bar appears for it. The line does follow it, because that really is what your savings are worth.
So the line can fall in a month where the bar is green. The difference is the exchange rate, not your saving.
Archived savings stay on the graph
Archiving a savings account doesn’t take it off the graph. Its months stay on the line and what it moved stays in the bars, so archiving one, even your last, changes nothing you’ve already seen.
If an archived account moved money in the month you’re looking at, it’s listed with the rest, so the accounts you see still add up to that month’s bar.
You need a savings account first
The graph has nothing to trace until one of your accounts is a savings account. Until then the card explains that and offers to add one, with the type already filled in for you.
What the colors mean
Green is money coming in or a surplus. Red is money going out or a shortfall.
Where Insights shows a change since last month, green means the change is in your favor. So spending less than last month shows green, even though the number went down.
