Setting up a scheduled payment

A scheduled payment is a bill you’re expecting: rent, a salary, a subscription. Quidough keeps it in a list and you record it into your accounts with one tap when it’s due, instead of typing it out every time. A schedule can also be a transfer between your own accounts.

Setting one up

You give it the same things as a transaction: an account, an amount, a description, a payee, a category, and a tag if you use them. Then you set how often it repeats, which recurrence covers.

Recording one when it’s due

The Scheduled page groups everything into Overdue, Today, This week, This month and Later, so you can see what’s coming as well as what needs doing now.

A tick appears on a payment’s row on the day it falls due, and stays there for as long as it’s overdue. Tap it and the payment is recorded. Rows further out don’t have one, because there’s nothing to confirm yet.

Recording one early

Sometimes a payment goes out before its due date. Open it and use Record early: Quidough checks that you meant to, then records it and moves the schedule on to its next date, just as if it had come round on time.

The date it gets

Either way, the transaction is dated the day you record it, not the day it was due. Record the rent a few days early and it’s dated the day you recorded it, while the schedule itself moves on to its next date as normal.

If its account goes away

A schedule needs somewhere to post. If you archive or delete the account it comes out of, Quidough flags it rather than letting it fail quietly. A scheduled transfer uses two accounts, so it’s flagged if either one goes.

On your dashboard, a Needs attention notice tells you how many schedules can’t run and offers to let you pick a new account. On the Scheduled page they move into a Needs attention section at the top, the row says the account is unavailable, and the record button disappears until you sort it out. They also drop out of the dashboard’s due list, so you can’t record something that has nowhere to go.

Open it, pick a new account, and it goes back to normal. Nothing is deleted or paused behind your back.
