The six account types

An account is a place your money sits. Quidough has six kinds, and you pick one when you create the account.

The six

Current, savings, credit, cash, investment, and other. Each kind gets its own icon and color, so you can tell your accounts apart in a list without reading every name.

Mostly the kind is a label. It doesn’t change what you can record, or how Quidough works out your totals, and you can change it later if you picked the wrong one. Credit is the exception.

Why credit is different

A credit card holds what you owe rather than what you have, so its balance runs the other way. When you create one you also set a credit limit, and Quidough uses that to show how much room you have left to spend. There’s more in balances and available funds.

Choosing a currency

Each account holds money in one currency, and you choose it when you create the account. You can change your mind freely until you record something in it. After that it locks, and there’s a good reason for that.
